I love to try cool new things! Yesterday the textile vinyl that I ordered to make the letters on Orchid’s catsuit arrived home and I am very happy.
I had heard about this product through Yaya Han and had always wanted to try it.
Heat transfer vinyl is a very easy-to-use material with which very clean finishes are achieved. Without seams, loose edges or embossing (unless you buy the embossed one), you could say that it blends with the fabric. I bought my 1m roll, (the minimum you can order) at vinyltextil.com , it arrived at my house in a couple of days and it has worked perfectly for me.
I ordered two types of vinyl, one normal in lemon yellow and another elastic in a darker yellow . In the end, after doing some tests, I used lemon yellow because the color is practically the same as the spandex that I used in the catsuit and because it has just the right elasticity so that it doesn’t get damaged when I put it on. Maybe it’s even better that it’s not elastic because this way the text doesn’t get deformed when I’m wearing it.
I was also a little afraid that the zentai fabric would be ruined because lamé lycra is not a fabric that irons well, but I haven’t had any kind of problem either. Let’s go step by step!
First I made a template, taking the measurement from under the armpit to the waist, which is what they occupy in the original model.
I cut them out and transferred them to the vinyl, drawing their outline on the protective plastic on the front of the sheet.
I made two sets of letters.
I placed the catsuit on the ironing board as stretched as possible (but not overstretched) and placed the letters lining up with the side seam. I ironed it over it at maximum temperature, placing a cloth on top.
Anyway, if you are going to do this at home, try to iron with different temperatures just in case.
Once the vinyl was adhered, I removed the protective plastic.
As you can see, it is easy, fast and only carries the risk of causing second-degree burns. A bargain!
I love it and can’t wait to take photos with this shit. I think, with a little luck, in less than a month I’ll be frolicking around a photo studio wrapped in this cosplay.
If you have any questions or want to hate me for making cosplays between armor and armor and for not being clear about what type of cosplayer I am, do not hesitate to write to me in the comments, facebook , twitter , etc, etc, etc.
