Hi! Keeping up with my Shae Vizla entries, it’s
time to talk about her infernal undersuit. Let’s go!
This suit is one of the most difficult things I’ve
ever sewed. First I made some beautiful patterns in paper. I made them copying
a catsuit I already had at home and taking in account my measurements. It didn’t
go well, I made it too tiny. I tried to fix it but I ruined it even more. Yay
for me! This is the worst thing of making complicated puzzle clothes like this
one: you can’t see if you’re making them right until you try them on half made.
I threw it away and started over.
For the second (and successful) attempt I went
on the safe side and I wrapped myself in plastic wrap and duct tape with the
help of my devoted Winters and obtained my patterns out of my plastic husk.
Then I drew the pieces on it basing myself in the original model, of course.
Once the pieces were drawn, I numbered them and
I cut them by sector to avoid getting lost in all that mess because I had like
140 pieces to sew together! It was a nightmare.
To achieve that futuristic (from long time ago
in a galaxy far, far away) I used black matte vinyl and grey pleather. And, to emphasise
the seam relieves I lined each piece using foam.
To line each piece, I joined the vinyl and the
foam sewing them together around the edges with the sewing machine. After that
I put everything together.First I basted everything with pain and lots of pins
and finally I machine sewed it.
And there’s nothing more to say about this
process. Once I sewed all the pieces together, I obtained a suit! I installed the zipper, finished the collar, sleeves and legs and it
was done!
