I&#8217;ve learnt a lot with these amazing books.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">To begin with, I used Plasti Dip to prime my armors. I was eager to try this product! I&#8217;ve seen a lot of Plasti Dip tutorials and, at last, it&#8217;s available in Spain so I bought a couple cans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">Plasti Dip\u00a0 is a multi-purpose rubber coating that creates a flexible, anti-moiusture protection. It&#8217;s aso abrasion and corrosion resistant. It&#8217;s widely used in auto repairing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">Once applied, it dries fast and it becomes a resistant cover that is easily removable without ruining the base material.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">It doesn&#8217;t provide hardness to the foam but, as my armors were made of 1cm thickness sheet, I didn&#8217;t need that so this product was perfect for them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/2524_35.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"217\" class=\"wp-image-804\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/2524_35.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">There are plenty of Plasti Dip colors and even super cool effect paints, but I only needed the regular black one. And I loved it. 3 or 4 layers were enough to cover all the pieces and it looked amazing. I didn&#8217;t lost my textures, that was something I was afraid of.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0023.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-805\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0023.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-806\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0024.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0025.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-807\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0025.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">Once dried, I painted everything. I chose the Devilswep** shader, that has red, grey, Brown and black tones. I wanted a sober shader. Destiny has a lot of crazy color combinations but I didn&#8217;t\u00a0 like them for my costume. I actually chose this shader because I don&#8217;t quite like the red color, I prefer blues, purples&#8230; but I didn&#8217;t want it to look like my Tali or Shepard costumes, I wanted to make it look totally different and new. Stupid or brilliant? I don&#8217;t know.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">Well, I masked with tape the parts I didn&#8217;t want to paint red.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0030.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-808\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0030.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">I bought some <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0000WS03C\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0000WS03C&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=nebulaluben-20&amp;linkId=YMOAN74QH7NKUZY7\"><span style=\"color: #666666;\">Tamiya TS-18<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #666666;\">\u00a0metallic red cans. I was looking forward to trying this spray\u00a0paint because its results are flawless. It&#8217;s used for car models and that kind of stuff, so the finish is really good. Maybe I shouldn&#8217;t have used it on this embossed armor as it looks way better on flat surfaces, but I&#8217;m ok with the result.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0015.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-809\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0015.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">I had to apply several layers until it looked good.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0017.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-810\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0017.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0029.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-811\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0029.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">For the black, grey and Brown parts I used my new and amazing <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B001TO578Q\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B001TO578Q&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=nebulaluben-20&amp;linkId=QPYG3EANS3LE3PUG\"><span style=\"color: #666666;\">airbrush<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #666666;\">. Painting with it is soo cool: it needs less amount of paint tan when using brushes, the brush streaks are no longer a problema and, in long term, is cheaper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/2015-09-1416.57.14-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-812\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/2015-09-1416.57.14-1.jpg\" width=\"180\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">I painted the smaller details with a brush, of course. Masking little parts is a waste of time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">Once the base colors were painted, it was time to make my favouruite thing: weathering! I first used a copper color paste with a brush in some parts to emulate rust\/ decoloration. As you can see, I did this in the inner corners and relieves, where dirt tends to accumulate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">Then I dry brushed the edges with silver acrylic paint to give it that chipped look. It&#8217;s amazing how the overall look changes with these little details.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0005.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-813\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0005.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">Also, in some places, I tried to make a more dramatic rust effet by glueing a mix of wood glue and sand. Once it was dry, I painted that sticky mess using al the colors of the rainbow basing myself in some <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/cdn.instructables.com\/FJH\/F55P\/H742ST1H\/FJHF55PH742ST1H.LARGE.jpg\"><span style=\"color: #666666;\">rust <\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #666666;\">pictures I found on google.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">If you enlarge the picture below you&#8217;ll see it in some little corners. I don&#8217;t know if it looks like real rust but, anyway, I like that effect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0015-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-814\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nebulaluben.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/DSC_0015-1.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">I used a mix of lighter brown colors on the edges of the belt to emulate age-worn leather.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666666;\">And it&#8217;s done!
