Hi everybody! Today I\u2019m goign to talk about my
\nexperience as a regular visitor at the Star Wars Celebration London 2016. If
\nyou wanna check out my cosplay report, check out this entry<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We \u00a0<\/span>arrived in London on Thursday, so we had time
\nto see the city before the con started. It was an amazing event full of stuff
\nto do and there were lots of things we didn\u2019t have time to see, but we had a
\ngreat time in those we could attend.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We first went to visit the Madamme Tussauds
\nmuseum. I haven\u2019t been to the wax museum in Madrid, but as far as I know,
\nit has notthing to do with Madamme Tussauds. We mainly wanted to see the Star wars
\nexhibition but the museum is organized in a way you have to visit all the other
\nparts before that.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

I really liked the celebrities zone, emulating
\na luxurious party, and also the \u201cSpirit of London\u201d ride, that explains the
\nstory of the city on rails, passing trough different moments in its story and
\npresenting important people using amazing figures and sceneries.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The part I didn\u2019t enjoyed that much was the 4D
\nAvengers movie. It was horrible!!! It was like a medieval torture for me. It
\nwas a 3D short movie (thank god it was short) with special features such as
\nwater and air blasts in our faces depending on the moment in the story. Also,
\nin the worst case scenario, when Wolverine nails his claws on the bad guys,
\nsomething comes out the back of the seats. I actually had a hard time there, I
\nspent the projection in fetal position waiting for it to finish. Anyway, other
\npeople seemed to enjoy it.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

After visiting the singers, sportsmen, world
\nleaders, a room in which they explained how they make their figures (really
\ninteresting) and the\u00a0rooms I mentioned before, we made it to the Star Wars
\nexhibition. It was amazing!! It was full of characters and scenes of the saga
\nand everything was touchable.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Just like in the rest of\u00a0exhibitions, the quality and
\naccuracy of the figures was outstanding and we had the best time taking
\npictures there. The only complain I have is that it was full of people that
\ndidn\u2019t\u00a0 <\/span>respect the line to take
\npictures, so we had to wait for the moment with no one in the middle in each
\nscene. For the last one, with Vader and the Emperor, we had to wait like 15
\nminutes till we had a chance.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

After visiting the museum, we made some turism
\narround the city. We alredy had our tickets for a London Eye ride, but the line
\nwas huge and it was late in the evening. Also, call me snobbish, but I thought
\nthat place was more\u2026 romantic? There as space for like 20 people inside each
\nbooth and no seats. <\/span>Pretty uncomfortable for a 40 minute ride. It’s a matter of tastes I guess, I hate agglomerations.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Fnaly the Star Wars Celebration began on
\nFriday!<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

First of all, I want to talk about the
\nwristband system there: for each show at the main stage, you had to make a line
\nand get a wristband. Each attendant was able to get two wristbands per day, so
\nit was difficult to choose! Anyway, it was really well organized. We were super
\nlucky because we overslept, but we got the last wristbands to see the Mark
\nHammil panel. Wow!<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

At about 10:30 they opened the con doors so we had some time to walk around and see what was inside before Mark Hammil\u2019s panel. The stage was overwhelming! It was incredibly big, with capacity for 4.000 atendees and it was full to the top. We got our seats at the back, but it was ok.<\/span> I only regret I didn’t take my zoom lens with me.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

That panel was
\namazing! <\/em>Remember I\u2019m talking as a hick as it was my
\nfirst big international convention with celebrities (Yes, I went to Gamescom in
\n2013, but I was working and I couldn\u2019t see anything). Mark Hammil was amazing,
\nhe just went on stage, talked about stuff, answered lots of questions\u2026 It was
\nsuper fun and, what can I say, I think he warmed everyone\u2019s hearts. I can\u2019t
\nfind a better way to describe it.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After the show, we run to the hotel room to get
\nready for the cosplay contest. As you may already know, I wrote about it here<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We returned to the con at night to watch \u201cA New
\nHope\u201d with 4.000 fans there cheering and applauding . I actually spent half of
\nthe screening twitting about the cosplay contest, but I enjoyed the atmosphere.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We were lucky on Saturday too. We overslept
\nagain, but we could catch wristbands for the Anthony Daniels (C3PO) show. I
\nalso enjoyed it very much, hosted by Warwick Davis in a late night style.
\nPersonally, I preferred Mark Hammil\u2019s panel, more personal and emotional. In
\nthis one, Warwick and Antony made a kind of tv show with public participation
\nand stuff. At the end they did the Q&A round and read the moving story
\nwhere C3PO gets his red arm.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We also had
\ntime to attend another panel (a no wristband one) with the creatures and
\npractical effects creators from Episode VII. It was really interesting: they
\nshowed lots of concept art, sketches and ideas they used for this movie. From
\nthe most insignificant characters to the Vader\u2019s scorched helmet.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The part I enjoyed the most was when they
\nexplained how they managed to put people inside some creatures, making the most of
\ntheir space inside and taking in account the possibilities of the human body
\ninside them to add some nice details. As a costume maker I found it very
\ninspiring and, once again, they showed that creativity has no limits.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

After having lunch, we passed by the autograph
\nbooths and we lined \u00a0<\/span>to get a Peter
\nMayhew (Chewbacca) autograph and pictures with Anthony Daniels and Ray Park! This
\none was taken with Winters, but I could enter the booth, hihihi. <\/span>They
\nwere awesome! This was my second hick moment. <\/em>I had always seen
\nthose con pictures with that kind of dreadful retro looking stucco background. <\/span>And
\nthere we were! In that studio booth. It was worth every penny.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

We were a little disappointed with the
\norganization there. We paid for Mark Hammil\u2019s autograph and, when we got to his
\nbooth, a pretty unpleasant guy gave us the 800 turn and told us we were not
\ngoing to make it (they were at \u00a0<\/span>number\u00a0 <\/span>60 at that moment) in a terrible way. Of
\ncourse, they refunded our money, but it was quite a bitter situation for us. I
\ndon\u2019t know why they kept on selling autographs if it was going to be impossible
\nto make it to Mark. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

And the booth guy\u2026 he did the same when we
\ntried to get to Sam Witwer very unpolitely.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

We also got a wristband for the EA panel, but
\nwe couldn\u2019t attend the con from Saturday evening to Sunday evening for personal
\nreasons.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

As I told you in my latest entry, I was highly
\nsurprised by the amount of incredible costumes we found around the con. I had
\nnever seen so many and amazing costumes in the same place. I know SWC is a very
\nspecial con, with devoted fans. I know, because some friends told me, that the
\ncosplay level outside Spain is not so different from ours. When Monika Lee and
\nRiddle came to Winter Freak, a relatively small con, they told me everything
\nwas pretty similar than in the US. And that was very surprising for me as we
\nalways see amazing costumes in their con videos. But, well, reality is there is
\nall kind of costumes everywhere.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

But Star Wars Celebration has seriously
\nincredible cosplayers. People dress up super accurately and you find
\noutstanding costumes everywhere. And not only imposing troopers, but droids,
\ncreatures, twi\u2019leks, mandalorians, wookies\u2026 Also, the age of the cosplayers was
\nslightly higher than in other events. I don\u2019t know, SW cosplay seems to be more
\nmature and it looks like a more serious and beautiful hobby. For the first time
\nin a long time I felt I fit in, that I was part of something. Maybe I\u2019ll talk
\nabout this feeling someday in other entry.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

On Sunday evening we walked around the shopping
\nand exhibition area. I\u2019ll just put some pictures here because describing
\neverything would be boring. I\u2019d highlight the Rogue One costumes exhibition and
\nthe droids one too. Regarding to the shops, there was a luxury office stuff one
\nand another one with movie relics: ship blueprints, droids, costumes,
\nphotography\u2026 they even had original ewok hair! Sometimes the only thing that
\nseparates Star Wars from a cult is that its followers know it\u2019s fiction (at
\nleast I hope so).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

In summary, SWCE has been an unforgettable con
\nfor us, full of fun stuff and very moving moments. I think we made the most of
\nit and\u00a0it has become a personal reference. The organization was really good and
\nthe environment was the best, super civic and nice. It has left the bar really
\nhigh for me. In fact, I want to go to more cons like that (such as MCM and so).
\nAnd, to begin with, we already booked our tickets, flight and hotel for the
\nSWCin Orlando next year!!\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s going to
\nbe our very first trip and con in the US and I\u2019m super excited. However, we\u2019ll
